Articles of a Treaty, Made at the Otoe Village, Big River Platte, between John Dougherty, Agent Indian Affairs, being duly authorized on the part of the United States, and the Otoe, and Missouria, and Omaha tribes of Indians.
ARTICLE 1.
The Otoe, and Missouria, and Omaha tribes of Indians, relinquish to the United States all the right and interest in the land ceded by the treaty with them and other tribes, on the 15th of July, 1830, which they might be entitled to claim, by virtue of the phraseology employed in the 1st article of said treaty.
ARTICLE 2.
In consideration of the cession contained in the preceding article, the United States stipulate to deliver, free of transportation, to the said Otoe and Missouria Indians, provisions to the amount of five thousand dollars ($5,000) for three years, and to the amount of twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500) for four years thereafter; to the said Omaha Indians. provisions to the amount of seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500) for three years, and to the amount of three thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars ($3,750) for four years thereafter.
ARTICLE 3.
The expenses of this negotiation, of the visits of the Otoe, Omaha, and Pawnee delegations, to Washington city, and of their return home, are to be paid by the United States.
ARTICLE 4.
This treaty to be binding on the contracting parties, when it shall be ratified by the United States.
In witness whereof, the said John Dougherty, agent Indian Affairs, and the undersigned, chiefs and headmen of said tribes, have hereunto set their hands, this 22d day of April, A. D. 1838.
