About the Data

The Tribal Treaties Database is a comprehensive digital portal designed to provide access to treaties, agreements, and other significant documents relevant to Native American history and culture. Our goal is to offer an educational resource that is as accurate and comprehensive as possible.

Please note that the information in this database has been compiled from various sources. While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the documents and information presented, the complex nature of historical documentation and the variety of sources mean that inaccuracies may exist.

Additionally, given the breadth and depth of Native American history, often not included in the written record, there may be variations or omissions, particularly in representing the perspectives and interests of all tribes. We acknowledge that some tribal narratives and interpretations might not be fully captured in our current collection.

Users are encouraged to approach the database as a starting point for research and learning. We welcome feedback and contributions that can help improve the accuracy and representation of the information provided. If you find any errors or omissions, please contact us so we can make the necessary corrections.

This database is an ongoing project, and the Oklahoma State University Libraries are committed to refining and expanding content to ensure it reflects the history of Native American treaty rights.
